Housing Officer

As a Housing Officer, you will support tenants and residents by managing housing services, resolving tenancy-related issues and helping maintain safe, secure and well-managed properties. You will work closely with tenants, landlords, contractors and internal teams to deliver high-quality housing services and support positive outcomes for residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of residential properties and support tenants throughout their tenancy.
• Respond to tenant enquiries and provide advice on housing-related matters.
• Handle tenancy applications, renewals, inspections and general tenancy administration.
• Monitor rent accounts and work with tenants to address rent arrears where required.
• Investigate and resolve tenancy issues, complaints and disputes professionally.
• Conduct property inspections and report maintenance, health and safety or compliance issues.
• Work with maintenance teams and contractors to ensure repairs are completed efficiently.
• Support vulnerable tenants and signpost them to appropriate support services.
• Maintain accurate and confidential tenancy records and documentation.
• Ensure housing services comply with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, local authorities, housing associations and external agencies.

Skill & Experience

• Previous experience in housing, property management, tenancy management or a similar role is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good understanding of tenancy and housing-related procedures.
• Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage difficult situations and resolve conflicts professionally.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable using IT systems and standard office software.
• Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection principles.
• Previous experience working with a housing association or local authority is advantageous.
