Local Government Administrator
As a Local Government Administrator, you will provide essential administrative and organisational support to local authority teams, helping ensure that services are delivered efficiently and effectively. You will work with colleagues, residents and external stakeholders while managing information, correspondence and day-to-day administrative processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and organisational support to local government departments.
- Manage emails, correspondence, documents and general enquiries.
- Maintain accurate records, databases and electronic filing systems.
- Assist with preparing reports, meeting documents, presentations and other administrative materials.
- Respond professionally to enquiries from residents, colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Schedule meetings, appointments and support the organisation of departmental activities.
- Process applications, forms and other documentation in line with relevant procedures.
- Work closely with colleagues across different departments to support effective service delivery.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Follow local authority policies, procedures, data protection and health and safety requirements.
- Assist with monitoring workloads, deadlines and administrative tasks to ensure they are completed on time.
Skill & Experience
- Previous experience in an administrative or office-based role is desirable.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and standard administrative systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Professional and approachable manner when dealing with members of the public.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles.
- Previous experience within a local authority or public-sector environment is advantageous.
