Teaching Assistant

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, students and school staff to create a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will assist teachers in delivering lessons, provide individual and small-group support to students, and help ensure that every learner has the opportunity to reach their full potential. This role is ideal if you are passionate about education and enjoy supporting children and young people in their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities

• Support teachers with the planning and delivery of engaging classroom activities and lessons.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students who require additional assistance.
• Help students develop their academic, social and communication skills.
• Assist with classroom preparation, learning resources and educational activities.
• Support students with special educational needs and adapt activities where appropriate.
• Encourage positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming classroom environment.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and relevant school staff.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, support staff and other professionals.
• Assist with supervision during break times, school activities and educational trips.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow school safeguarding, health and safety policies.

Skill & Experience

• Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
• A genuine interest in education and supporting students’ development.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a teaching and support team.
• Patient, supportive and approachable with a positive attitude.
• Ability to support students with different learning needs.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles is desirable.
• Relevant qualifications or experience in education, childcare or learning support are advantageous.
